If you’ve ever wondered what goes into planning some of Lake City’s biggest community events, the short answer is: a lot of moving pieces, a lot of coordination, and a whole lot of heart.

As we look ahead to a busy summer season, we wanted to share a little behind the scenes glimpse into what’s already happening and what’s still to come.

Independence Day Celebration

Planning for the two day Independence Day celebration on July 3 and 4 is well underway, and many of the major pieces are already in place. From securing permits and coordinating emergency services to arranging fireworks and booking live music, the foundation for this year’s celebration is strong.

We’re excited to welcome Trouble Bound Band, a group with strong ties to our region and a growing local following. You may have even heard some of their songs inspired by the Creede and Lake City area.

We’re also working on adding a little something extra this year. We are currently in discussions to bring a mini stick horse rodeo style activation to the park as part of the festivities, both to enhance the experience and to help promote the full Stick Horse Rodeo happening later in July. This addition is still in the early stages and will ultimately depend on the rodeo committee’s interest and availability to participate in this year’s Independence Day celebration.

Behind the scenes, we’re continuing to build out the event with vendors, volunteers, and sponsors. These community driven pieces are what truly bring the celebration to life, and we will be sharing more opportunities to get involved soon.

Our Independence Day celebration comes together because of community support.

If you’d like to sponsor, volunteer, join as a vendor, or explore event details, we’d love to have you involved.

Town-Wide Yard Sale

The Town-Wide Yard Sale is officially on the calendar, and early buzz has already begun. While registration has not opened just yet, coming in June, now is the perfect time to start setting aside those items you have been meaning to part with.

This event is all about participation, neighbors, businesses, and visitors coming together for a fun, town wide experience. We will be rolling out more details and ways to sign up in the coming months.

It Takes a Community

While there are plenty of logistics involved in planning these events, the most important ingredient is always the same: community.

From volunteers and sponsors to local businesses and participants, these events come together because of the people who show up, pitch in, and make it their own.

We are excited for what’s ahead this summer and grateful to be part of a community that makes it all possible.

Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities to get involved!
